It's no secret.
A sequel is in the works.

It's no secret. A sequel is in the works.

Francisco Muniz confirmed the rumor last Thursday, April 14, during the Keithan Quintero and the Sky Phantoms Book Talk, an activity that took place in one of the amphitheaters of the Faculty of Education of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. There, the professor and some of the students from the Literature for Adolescents course presented Francisco's book to an audience before they asked him questions that led to the good news.

"There's definitely going to be a sequel," were the author's exact words when he was invited to the stage. He provided more details by sharing with the audience that the whole story about Keithan, the Sky Phantoms, and the Pegasus Air Race was originally intended to be one book, but because it turned out to be longer than expected, he had to divide it into two books and end the first one where he and the editors thought would be best to complete the first half of the story (and to keep readers enticed to look forward to reading the sequel). This might remind some readers about what happened to famous novels like Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the last two books in Christopher Paolini's The Inheritance Cycle, which were also intended to be one story but were later divided before publication.

As part of the activity, the students who presented Keithan Quintero and the Sky Phantoms also commented on the things that they enjoyed most about some of its characters, settings, and plot. They even pointed out the provoking way in which the endings of most of its chapters made them want to keep turning the pages. And just like many in the audience, these students expressed to be intrigued to know what will be next for Keithan, his friends, and, of course, the Sky Phantoms. As a surprise, near the end of the book talk, Francisco teased the audience more when he revealed the premise of the upcoming sequel.

Now what exactly is that premise? All we can say for now is that Francisco plans to officially reveal it to everyone else next month at the Puerto Rico Comic Con, which will take place at the Puerto Rico Convention Center from May 20 to May 22. The premise will then be published on this website, as well as on the official Keithan Quintero's Facebook page.
